“When I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 2:11).
Have you noticed how hard people are working today and yet the most prescribed type of medication is antidepressants? It seems Solomon knew what he was talking about. Many have bought into the notion that stuff is the answer to their quest for happiness and fulfillment and yet when they get the stuff money can buy they don’t have that which money can’t buy.
Are you running from one purchase to the next thinking that one more transaction, one more acquisition, one more rung on the social ladder will somehow fill that emptiness you are experiencing? My friend, when you climb that ladder to the top you are going to discover that it is leaning against the wrong wall. If this is your life’s pursuit, Solomon says it is meaningless; it’s like chasing the wind and in the end no matter what you have accumulated, it is not gain.
What is the answer to your emptiness? The answer is very simple yet it is hard to do; total surrender. Give it all to God; lay it down before Him in surrender, lose your life in Him because that’s where you truly find it. Moses was told to give up what he was holding on to and then to pick up what God was giving him. Let go of what you are hanging on to and let God give you what you truly need to live the abundant life.
I Love You!
